An Interview With Casey Neistat: Life’s Priorities
In our Conway’s Connections interview, we ask YouTube content creator Casey Neistat about the priorities in his life and his systems to always spend time with the family.
Casey Neistat: I don’t. [inaudible 00:00:19] I get it right, I think. I work seven a days a week, about 18 to 20 hours a day. Last night I was in bed at 12:30, and I was up this morning at four.
Speaker 2: Wow.
Casey Neistat: And that’s seven days a week. I have systems in place, and those systems help. Even though I work this much, even though I’m running three companies right now, and I have employees and responsibilities, and I post eight videos to 25 million people a week, I leave work every single day to be home at six pm.
Speaker 2: Nice.
Casey Neistat: So, my dad owns a coffee shop, struggles to get home at six. He was home late when we were kids, but every day at six pm. So, I have these rules. Every morning I don’t leave the house until the baby has left [inaudible 00:01:04]. Every day. I think having those structures both enable me to maintain things, and they also let me rationalize the chaos, because it’s like, at least I’m getting that. I don’t know if it’s right. I wouldn’t suggest that it is.
Speaker 2: But it sounds like you have a system in place or a structure necessary to-
Casey Neistat: It enables me to sleep at night.
Speaker 2: There you go.
